Setting Up Cost Optimization Alerts in CostQ

CostQ allows you to set up automated alerts to track AWS spending and get notified of anomalies.

📌 Step 1: Navigate to Alerts​

  1. Log into CostQ.
  2. Go to Settings → Cost Alerts.
  3. Click "Create New Alert".

📌 Step 2: Configure Alert Settings​

  • Alert Type: Choose from:
    • 📈 Budget Exceeded (e.g., Spend > $500)
    • 🚀 Unusual Cost Spike (e.g., 20% increase in a day)
    • 📉 Unused Resources (e.g., idle EC2 instances)
  • Threshold: Set a spending limit or anomaly detection level.
  • Notification Method: Choose Email, Slack, or Webhook.

📌 Step 3: Save and Activate Alerts​

  1. Click Save Alert.
  2. Enable the alert to start monitoring.
  3. Test it by simulating cost changes.

📌 Troubleshooting Alerts​

🔹 Not Receiving Alerts?​

  • Check your spam folder or update your notification email.
  • Verify Slack or Webhook settings.

🔹 Alert Not Triggering?​

  • Ensure the threshold is correctly set.
  • Check if AWS data sync is up-to-date.
